MELB: BEATRIX BAKES x BOOKS FOR COOK

Hosted By: Books for Cooks

115-121 Victoria Street Melbourne, VIC 3000 | 3 Mar 2020 06:30 PM

On Tuesday 3rd March we are celebrating the release of the baking book Melbourne has been waiting for: "Beatrix Bakes" by Natalie Paull.

We are so excited about this one!

Natalie was one of our very first customers twenty years ago.  Even back then we knew she was a baker extraordinaire and that she had a great book in her.  It might have taken a while but it has definitely been worth the wait.

Fast forward to 2011 and the birth of Beatrix Bakes - a tiny bakery shop in the wilds of North Melbourne - and a cake shop with delicious soulful baking that no-one can resist.  From the moment we visited we knew this was 'the cake shop to end all cake shops'.

And now in 2020, we can bake with Beatrix at home.

Natalie is a thoughtful, playful baker who celebrates the local and seasonal, the ethical and the delicious and who serves her cakes with love.   The bakery might be tiny but it has a big heart, and even bigger flavours.  The book is written the same way.  Detailed helpful instructions preface delicious, tempting flavour combinations.  Thoughtful introductions inspire, gorgeous photos seduce.. this is a beautiful and personal baking book.

With this book at home, you'll feel that Natalie is at your side as you bake and it will all turn out fine - and it will!

Think Almond & Saffron Pear Dacquoise, Bananingtons, Pecan & Peach Rugelach, Blood Plum Galettes, Almondjaws with salty Dulce de Leche, Potato Brioche Doughnuts or a Passionfruit Cloud Chiffon Cake...we're not quite sure where to start!

Please join us on Tuesday 3rd March for a glass of bubbles, a slice of cake or two and a lovely evening as we chat to one of our favourite & local Melbourne food icons - Natalie Paull.
